Challenge

Vandemoortele Spain faced an urgent operational gap: the demand planning & logistics coordinator role had been vacant for a while, causing increasing operational issues that were expected to escalate during the holiday period. At the same time, a strategic logistics tender was underway to select a new transport and warehousing partner, requiring in-depth support to ensure a successful outcome.

Solution

We quickly stepped in to ensure operational continuity and took full ownership of demand planning and forecasting for Plant Based Food Solutions, using SAP APO and statistical forecasting in Anaplan. At the same time, we supported the logistics team by taking over critical transport coordination tasks and provided analyses to optimize the transport and warehousing tender. We reported directly to the Belgian and Spanish teams to maintain alignment and transparency.

Result

By filling the operational gap, we ensured business continuity during a critical period. We proactively identified opportunities for improvement within Plant Based Food Solutions, conducting analyses and providing actionable recommendations that will be implemented in the coming months. Additionally, our work optimized logistics processes and supported the transport and warehousing tender, delivering both efficiency gains and cost savings.
